COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS

Get Your Body Back-Workshop Series Part 1-- March 13, 2010 Time- 2PM-4PM
The "Get Your Body Back" - Workshop series is designed to help you understand body mechanics and poor postures over time that lead to common pain patterns. You will learn self treatment techniques which will combine stretching, strengthening, body awareness and relaxation techniques. After completing the class, participants can expect to be able to identify and problem solve common pain patterns which result from home and work place activities. Part 1 of this series will focus on the neck, arms, hands and shoulders. ***UPDATE to Get Your Body Back ***Outline of Part 1 class: ***Standing and sitting body alignment: identify and correct the common causes of back/shoulder pain. *Correction of common sitting/ work station postures that lead to back and upper body pain. Understanding how to engage our core in sitting and standing ***Understanding how the shoulder muscles work and how poor sitting and standing postures contribute to shoulder pain and weakness. ***Self treatment techniques: *Belt stretches for Upper body *Specific stretches for arm, wrist, hand, trunk *Self treatment tools- foam roll, tennis balls, 4 inch ball ***Upper body strengthening techniques ***Please come to this workshop prepared to move your body as you learn about how the body works and empower yourself with tools to change pain patterns that have been becoming a part of your daily life. The "Get Your Body Back" - Workshop series is designed to help you understand body mechanics and poor postures over time that lead to common pain patterns. You will learn self treatment techniques which will combine stretching, strengthening, body awareness and relaxation techniques. After completing the class, participants can expect to be able to identify and problem solve common pain patterns which result from home and work place activities. In this Part 2 Series, we will focus on the back, hips, legs and feet.
Cost: $25.00 Per Class

Free Introductory Seminar- Infant Massage

Infant Massage- April 25, 2010: 12 noon - 1PM
Learn simple massage techniques to help you bond with and nurture your infant. Learn simple Myofascial Release techniques to help with relaxation and/or easing anxiety, as well as common problems such as colic, ear infections, and difficulties with nursing and feeding. Taught by Jody Hendryx, PT,LMT and Michael Rende, OTR Call Hands On Physical Therapy to register: 512-310-1928 Requirements: anyone with an infant (suggested age less then one year)
